March 25, 2012 Snow family…
Just a little peek as I work through a recent family photo shoot. This was a true example of how a little patience and flexibility can be magical. We had scheduled this shoot for months earlier, the day brought fresh new snow and bluebird skies. It also brought strep and a fever rash for this little boy. So we tried again but that day brought winds and rain and lots of mud. The third try was a charm, a snowy winter wonderland. It is hard to believe that now only a week later it is 67 degrees and all that snow is gone but I am thrilled to have been able to deliver this snow loving family the snowy winter photographs they hoped for.
Adopt the pace of nature: her secret is patience. ~Ralph Waldo Emerson
March 23, 2012 home.
Yesterday we closed on the purchase of our new home in Epsom, New Hampshire. It’s an odd feeling to be happy and sad at the same time. Excited for the new adventure yet melancholy about the distance from all those we love here in Park City and the beauty of Utah. There are four bedrooms and full guest bath plus lots of room on the third floor for sleeping bags so we will be bugging friends to come and visit! We move in June, will be a labor of love to keep this home and the property as well kept as the previous owners did. I took some snapshots yesterday before the closing. We stopped at the ice rink first, then Bear State park (about 5 min away and a great big swimming lake) and the dairy farm two houses down. The previous owners said they walk there to buy their fresh milk every few days. There is also a plaque across the street from the corner of the property, it shows where a mother was captured by Indians. Our home was built where the Garrison stood when the land was first settled. The woman was headed up the hill to it with her son and husband one night. She lived and was released 5 days later, you can read her diary about it. The history amazes me, will be so fun to learn about the generations here before us, Jack is excited to explore with his metal detector. There is a pond, filled with little turtles yesterday. Now, lets just hope the house isn’t haunted ;-).

Great fishing spot
I love lakes.
We have one neighbor between us and this dairy farm. It is called “Spooky Farm”
as it sits next to the old graveyard. It is the home of Jack and Maggie’s school bus driver next year!
Jack’s room, he wanted the view of the backyard and pond.
Maggie’s room. We will need to paint!
The future fire pit spot. The circle made with original bricks taken from basement.
The 3rd floor studio, kids space ? Original floors!
Trying to learn what these troughs in the basement were built for.
Jack will learn to drive, comes with the house.
Looks like we will be raking leaves again.

February 13, 2012 a 3 minute 9 year old portrait.
Lately I have been craving making some real portraits of my children. They are growing so quickly, even within the last year I am torn with how they have changed. Unfortunately I haven’t seemed to find the time or their willingness to give me more than 3 minutes. That isn’t a lot of time but it is enough to make these.
I remember the day we brought Jack home from the hospital, the moment I first held him in my arms, the first time I felt him stretching his little legs in my belly. I remember it as if it was yesterday.

January 27, 2012 dig.
”To forget how to dig the earth and to tend the soil is to forget ourselves.”
Mohandas K. Gandhi
This was taken with a cardboard pinhole camera I constructed with my 8 year old son. It was the only image to be exposed, it seems as though I didn’t have the film secured to the reel so as I thought I was advancing it it had moved only one frame. Looking forward to play with it again, frustrated, I set it in a corner for a long time out.

If a man walks in the woods for love of them half of each day, he is in danger of being regarded as a loafer. But if he spends his days as a speculator, shearing off those woods and making the earth bald before her time, he is deemed an industrious and enterprising citizen. ~Henry David Thoreau
January 24, 2012 portraits for the professional…
I admit to making a judgement and strong opinion of a person without even meeting them. A professional has his or her headshot out there on their website, marketing materials and even social media forums. It is human nature to make assumptions based solely on that portrait. The headshot can speak volumes about personality and even quality of the services offered. Don’t devalue the importance of a first impression. Put some thought into it.
Just a few images from a recent photo shoot.
and just because the sweet pup was feeling left out…
